There is no more perfect combination of passion and people than The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. Every year, hundreds of thousands of spectators from all over the world bring the city to a standstill as they cheer on a jaw dropping parade of 10,000 fabulous people.
Growing out of a single night of political protest, the Parade has become an all encompassing expression of LGBTQI identity.
This dizzying spectacle flows like a river of queer humanity, switching effortlessly between sexy satire and from high brow to sequinned eyebrow. Tying it all together is an overarching sense of love and a joyous celebration of the hard won freedom to be whoever you are.
